Where They’re Headed

Daniel Gordon ’14 will be one of 18 Dean’s Fellows from around the world joining the newly formed Yale-NUS College in Singapore, where he will have the opportunity to guide the school’s development.

Haverford libraries own more than 625,000 titles, including not only printed books but thousands of items in other formats—microfilm, photographs, diaries, letters, sound and video recordings, electronic publications, and miscellaneous ephemera.

Customs is Haverford College’s First-Year Experience program, which includes a five-day orientation immediately preceding the fall semester.

The Center for Peace and Global Citizenship‘s Haverford Garden internship encourages students to think creatively about how gardening (or more generally, food) connects to the strictly theoretical work they do in the classroom.

Each year more than 130 Haverford students take advantage of the opportunity to study abroad.

Assistant Professor of Astronomy Beth Willman led a group of students over spring break to observe at the Apache Point Observatory in New Mexico. Haverford is part of the Northeast Participation Group, a consortium of a handful of small schools leasing time on the APO 3.5m from the Astrophysical Research Consortium (ARC).

David Roza ’15, an English major and cross-country member, will spend his summer interning at The Portland Tribune. Roza will work with newsroom staffers to learn journalistic principles and write stories during his internship. He is especially interested in reporting on environmental issues and writing profiles about local residents.

The Haverford campus is the oldest planned college landscape in the country. Our meticulously maintained 200 acres contain a nature trail, a Pinetum and flower gardens.
