The Department of Music at Haverford offers a creative approach to music theory, a curriculum in music history that deals with music in the social context and embraces world music and jazz, while our applied music program and ensembles provide students with opportunities for performances and tours.

Where They’re Headed

Catherine Wen ’15 is headed to Goldman Sachs as an operations analyst, but you might not have guessed it from her class work while at Haverford. She majored in physics, took engineering classes, and wrote a thesis on fluid dynamics, but she says it was all towards a common goal.

Haverford has more than 145 student groups that publish magazines, host symposia, sing a cappella, discuss religion and spirituality, stay politically active, maintain a system of student self-government, dance, demonstrate and create.

Over winter break, nine students got a fresh perspective on immigration as part of a weeklong Borderlands Field Study to Arizona and Mexico sponsored by the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship.
