Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Access
Heritage Months
Heritage month and recognition day initiatives and programs celebrate, educate, and honor the culture, history, struggle, and contributions of historically marginalized people and communities in the U.S, as well as engage in advocacy and liberatory work at Haverford College and beyond.
Student affinity groups and various offices on campus may be celebrating these months with their programming. There’s even funding available to affinity groups for this kind of programming. Additionally, there’s a committee of students and employees of the college who also engage in this work. They are the Honoring Our Roots and Culture Committee or Roots Committee for short. The task of the Roots Committee is to advise on and partake in the development of heritage month and recognition day initiatives and programs.
