The Jaharis Family Foundation has made a gift of $10 million that will support a new state-of-the-art music center and endow an innovative student loan debt relief fund. Says Steven M. Jaharis, M.D. ’82, “Haverford continues to be a priority for our family because Haverford continues to have a profound impact on communities worldwide.”

The Committee for Environmental Responsibility (CER) was created by the students, faculty and staff of Haverford College, and founded on the socially responsible principles of the college. You can use their Building Dashboard to track real-time electricity use in buildings around campus that have been fitted with special meters.

The Center for Peace and Global Citizenship supports student work in the realms of social justice and civic engagement by funding internships, post-baccalaureate fellowships, service learning expeditions, and research travel to expand learning outside the classroom walls.

Haverford’s small size makes possible a highly personalized, hands-on educational experience. Professors work side-by-side with students to do high-level research while also developing analytical thinking and pushing the boundaries of each discipline.

Haverford hosts guest speakers through programs such as Distinguished Visitors and Young Academic Alumni Lecture Series. These lectures, classroom visits and workshops enhance and supplement the core curriculum.

The Mellon Creative Residencies Program ignites vibrant engagements between students, faculty, and visiting artists through sustained, dynamic residencies, inside the classroom and out.

Haverford has more than 145 student groups that publish magazines, host symposia, sing a cappella, discuss religion and spirituality, stay politically active, maintain a system of student self-government, dance, demonstrate and create.

Astronomy students get the chance to explore the universe using telescopes at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona during a fall break trip funded by NSF AST-1151462, the Boughn-Gollub-Partridge Fund, the Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center and the Louis Green Fund.
