Buzzing Bees This Summer

The honeybee hives, which were installed in May in the Retention Pond behind HaverFarm, were the idea of the Haverford’s BeeKeeping Club, which was formed by Alanna Matteson ’15 and Dana Ducombe ‘17 earlier this year.

With its inception, the Club joins a larger national effort that’s working to restore the population of honeybees in the country.

Eli St. Amour, Haverford’s official beekeeper, and Claudia Kent, assistant director of facilities management, suited up in their spacesuit-like white Tyvek jackets and veils to check on the Haverford campus’ newest residents: bees.

The Walter Reuben Story

The Class of 1965 alumnus moved to L.A. in 1988 with the ambition to make a feature film. Twenty-seven years later he did. Reuben’s award-winning experimental film is a meditation on memory that weaves together the strange sage of an elusive fellow Ford and strands of his own life.

Music at Haverford

The Department of Music at Haverford offers a creative approach to music theory, a curriculum in music history that deals with music in the social context and embraces world music and jazz, while our applied music program and ensembles provide students with opportunities for performances and tours.

Ingrid Arauco’s composition students workshopped their assignments with professional musicians including Network for New Music and percussionist Phil O’Banion.
