Marian E. Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center

The Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center is committed to supporting initiatives that broaden access to scholarship and research for faculty and students alike. The center seeks to fund events and symposia that focus on collaborative and interdisciplinary science research that is at the forefront of its respective discipline.

The KINSC typically funds events that range from $200-$2,000.

Funds are available to support faculty travel to professional meetings and training workshops in order to enhance teaching and faculty-student research at Haverford.

These funds will be made available in consultation with the Provost’s office so that any funds granted complement, rather than overlap with, Provostial travel funds. Requests should not exceed $2,000.00, and should be made during the academic year and at least one month before a decision on funding is needed.

The KINSC has funds to support faculty-initiated research projects in the natural sciences that enhance the faculty/student collaborative research experience.

The nature of this funding is designed to be extremely flexible. It could, for example, provide seed money to help a faculty member move into a completely new research area and help him or her generate the preliminary data required for submission of an external grant proposal, help a faculty member initiate a new collaboration or enhance opportunities for students or faculty to work on projects already funded from other sources. Examples of previously funded projects are shown below.
