Sex Discrimination and Sex-Based Harassment
Haverford College is committed to ensuring that all members of the College community have a learning and working environment that is free from sex discrimination and sex-based harassment.
In accordance with the U.S. Department of Education's Final Title IX Regulations of 2024 (the Final Rule), the College has revised its policy and procedures to continue to protect all students and employees from prohibited sex discrimination.
Among other significant updates, the final regulations:
- Protect all students and employees from all sex discrimination prohibited under Title IX, including by restoring and strengthening full protection from sexual violence and other sex-based harassment.
- Ensure protections for pregnant and parenting students by clarifying the steps a school or institution must take to protect students, employees, and applicants from discrimination based on pregnancy or related conditions.
- Empower students and families by requiring schools and institutions to communicate their nondiscrimination policies and procedures to all students, employees, and other participants in their education programs so that students and families understand their rights.
- Promote accountability by requiring schools and institutions to take prompt and effective action to end any sex discrimination in their education programs or activities, prevent its recurrence, and remedy its effects.
The College is monitoring the status of current injunctions regarding the implementation of the Final Rule, will ensure our compliance with Title IX, and will update policies and procedures as required. For any questions regarding these policies and procedures, please contact Raquel Esteves-Joyce, Interim Title IX Coordinator, at rjoyce [at] haverford.edu.
