An example of the immediate-start version of the Physics major:
Starts | Fall Semester | Spring Semester |
---|---|---|
First year | PHYS H105 (Fundamental Physics I), MATH H118 (Calculus: Dynamics And Integration) |
PHYS H106 (Fundamental Physics II), MATH H121 (Multivariable Calculus) |
Sophomore Year | PHYS H211 (Lab In Electronics, Waves, and Optics, ½ credit), PHYS H213 (Waves and Optics) |
PHYS H214 (Intro to Quantum Mechanics), MATH H215 (Linear Algebra) |
Junior Year | PHYS H3081 (Mechanics of Discrete and Continuous Systems) | PHYS H3021 (Advanced Quantum Mechanics) PHYS H301 (Quantum Physics Lab) |
Senior Year | PHYS H3031 (Statistical Physics) PHYS H399 (Senior Seminar, ½ credit) |
PHYS H399 (Senior Seminar, ½ credit) PHYS H326 (Advanced Physics Lab) |
1. PHYS H308 and PHYS H302 are offered in alternate years with PHYS H303 and PHYS H309. Any three of those four courses will satisfy the requirements of the Physics Major.
Study Abroad is possible with this schedule, especially in the junior year and first semester of the senior year. Students are usually able to take a 300-level equivalent course abroad, or double-up on physics courses when they return home.
