Matt Wetherell ’12 Interviews Former Surgeon General Koop

Matt Wetherell ’12 interviewed former Surgeon General Koop as part of his research for his senior thesis, which uses the role of the Surgeon General as a case study within a broader examination of the ways government bureaus gain and lose power.

While home in New Hampshire over winter break, Wetherell landed an interview with the retired pediatric surgeon and government figure who now lives in Hanover.

Math Question Center

The Math Question Center is an informal gathering place where students work in groups on math homework and get assistance when they need it. It is staffed five evenings each week by mathematics faculty and majors.

The Math Question Center, and the math lounge, both within the KINSC, are open to all students by keycard access 24/7 (and are rarely empty).

Fine Arts at Haverford

The Fine Arts at Haverford emphasize the individual. Studio classes are small and all students—from beginners to declared majors—receive individual, focused instruction, and are encouraged to develop the physical and critical skills necessary to create art.

The Dining Center opened in 1969, moving students into a modern era for food service at the College. Today the DC’s kitchen composts pre-consumer food waste and sources organic and local foods.
