Then & Now: Founders Great Hall Then

Founders Great Hall

Founders Great Hall served as the College’s dining hall for more than 60 years, until the Dining Center opened in 1969. Since then, the majestic room has been a busy special events space, hosting invited speakers, student dances, alumni weddings, and concerts.

The Campus

Our campus has 200 acres of award-winning architecture and landscaping; more than 50 academic, athletic, and residential buildings; and a nationally recognized arboretum with 400 species of trees and shrubs, a 3.5-acre duck pond, gardens, and wooded areas.

Growth and structure of cities majors and co-heads of the Bi-Co Architecture Club Nicky Rhodes ’19 and Austin Huber ’19 used skills developed in an architecture studio course to design the Victorian-inspired bus stop and bike shelter near the North Dorms. Photo: Justin Brendel '18.

Then & Now: Founders Great Hall Now

Founders Great Hall

With Magill Library under renovation, Founders Great Hall has been put to temporary use (along with a number of other spaces on campus) as a library stand-in, complete with study carrels and the relocated staff of research librarians. Upstairs, the Common Room is now a spot for quiet reading.
