  • Three Haverford seniors and one recent graduate have won Fulbrights, and two seniors have received Watson Fellowships for international study and travel.
  • Haverford is taking part in RecycleMania, a national competition aimed at encouraging waste reduction and good recycling habits. The contest, which runs through March 27th, pits college against college in a quest to see who can recycle the most.
  • Prof. Tom Lloyd has checked in after the earthquake in Turkey and reports they are safe.
  • A Temple University lecturer used seedlings from the elm at the Philadelphia Flower Show. Several other events in March also commemorated the 200th anniversary of the original elm's death.
  • The sophomore will deliver an essay and participate in a seminar at the 2010 Undergraduate Ethics Symposium hosted by the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University.
  • This winter, the bi-college Korean Students Association staged its first student/alumni networking event, hosted by Michael B. Kim '85.
  • Caitlin Coslett '05 helped launch the Greater Philadelphia High School Chess Open as a Haverford senior. Since then, she's returned to campus each spring to run what has become an annual event. This year's Chess Open, hosted by Haverford College, will be held on March 20.
  • All three Haverford students currently studying abroad in Chile have checked in to report that they are safe.

  • The long-lost letter appears to have been purloined by one of history's most notorious document thieves some 170 years ago. "There was only one responsible course of action,” says President Steve Emerson.“Do the right thing.”
  • The Chamber Singers of Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges will travel to Turkey in March for the group's sixth international cultural exchange tour. The bi-co ensemble has been preparing for the trip with special lectures and a dinner hosted by a local Turkish-American group, and will perform a farewell concert on Monday, Mar. 1.
