Research
Matthew's research focuses on the structure of social inequality within a variety of institutional, cultural, and regional contexts, from the U.S. and Europe to South Africa and Asia. Blending quantitative and thematic methods, this work examines different theories regarding the distribution of education, occupation, and income, and how processes that determine the distribution of these resources vary regionally. His portfolio of courses reflect these interests across a range of subjects: educational inequality, immigration, poverty, and social interruption/change.
