Jennifer Eng-Thakker has been with CAPS since 2018, when she completed her training year as a social work intern. Before counseling, she taught literature to high school students at Georgetown Day School, Milton Academy, and The Park School of Baltimore. Jenn believes in the power of stories -- our own life stories included -- to help us re-understand ourselves and the worlds we inhabit. She is fundamentally committed to hearing voices that have been silenced, both within social systems and within the self.
A licensed social worker, Jenn earned a BA in English literature from Haverford, an MEd from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an MSW from the Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. Although she found these programs illuminating, her most meaningful and memorable learning experiences have occurred in high school classrooms, alongside her students. Her work at CAPS has been similarly transformative.
