IES Paris: Business and International Affairs

Introduction
Paris is one of the most important business, financial, and political centers in the world. The rich traditions of Paris and its environment afford ample opportunities for students to enhance their classroom experience by visiting local museums, attending plays and concerts, and touring one of the many ethnically diverse neighborhoods of Paris. The Paris Business and International Affairs Center is located on rue-Saint Amand in a residential area with many shops and restaurants and close to convenient public transportation.

Additional Visa Information - Fees: Students pay Haverford tuition to Haverford College. Haverford will then be responsible for submitting payments to the program. Students pay room and board fees direct to IES.

Students are required to enroll in an appropriate-level French language course.
Academic Credit
Students must enroll in a full course load while abroad. Transfer credit will only be granted for courses in which students receive a grade of a C (2.0) or above.
Curriculum
IES Partner Institution – Paris School of Business
Founded in 1974, the Paris School of Business is a Grande École management school located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. The school is known for academic excellence and international preparation. Students attending classes at the Paris School of Business will be able to take advantage of the many clubs and vibrant energy on campus. The university offers a variety of English-taught business courses
Internships
Internship opportunities are available on this program for students with advanced French. Securing an internship is a competitive process and placement depends on a variety of factors. Past students have interned in communications, marketing, publishing, and human resources. Student’s internship is complemented by a required seminar that offers contextual support for the practical work experience. Haverford will accept the required seminar for credit.

Non-Academic Overview
Orientation
The program begins with a two-day orientation that introduces students to the IES Abroad Paris staff, their fellow students, and the city of Paris, and covers important topics such as academics, housing, transportation, and health and safety. Following orientation, students engage in a week-long intensive French language program that prepares them for life in France and includes cultural visits to help them discover the city.

Housing/Meal Plans
Homestay – Students live in French homes in the city of Paris and in well-regarded adjacent suburbs. Haverford believes that living with a family provides the best opportunity to learn a language and experience full cultural immersion. Students share breakfast daily and three evening meals per week with their hosts. Other meals are available at the university cafeterias and inexpensive local restaurants.
Apartments – A limited number of single and shared apartments are available for an additional cost. Apartments include a private bathroom and kitchen ensuite. Laundry will be available on-site. Meals are not included. Internet is available.
Residence Hall – A limited number of single rooms are available for an additional cost. The rooms come with a private bathroom. Kitchen facilities are shared with other students and residents. Laundry will be available on-site. Meals are not included.
Haverford students may not opt for independent off-campus housing – that is, housing not arranged by the program.
