Annual Events
Celebrate Community
Every fall, we welcome students to campus for the academic year and introduce them to community members and organizations that we work closely with. Celebrate Community is a festive event in which everyone can enjoy a sweet treat and browse tables, each of which have representatives and information about how to get involved. Check it out every September!
Fall Festival
In an effort to position Haverford’s campus as a welcoming place for the neighboring communities, we have festivals each semester that are open to the public. In the fall, we have a fun Halloween themed event! Children can come in costume and “trick or treat” at tables, completing a service activity at each one and getting some candy in return.
Hunger Auction
A tradition started by Marilou Allen, the Hunger Auction brings Haverford students, faculty, and staff together for a good cause. Folks donate handmade items, like baked goods, knitted scarves, or art lessons, which are then raffled off. All money raised goes to our friends at Philabundance. We raise hundreds of dollars every year with this community building event!
Alternative Spring Break
Breaks are a perfect time for students to get involved. The Office of Service has programmed Alternative Spring Break opportunities with Southeast by Southeast and GMHC, an organization that fights to end the AIDS epidemic and uplift the lives of all affected. We plan to have multiple options for students going forward over both fall and spring breaks.
