Haverford College Seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish.
Haverford College welcomes applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Spanish. Candidates with expertise in Latinx studies and film or visual studies are encouraged to apply. Subfields of gender, Indigeneity, environmental humanities or social movements are highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at different levels of the curriculum including Basic Intermediate Spanish, and Film Studies at a 200 level. The teaching load is 3/2, and the position is for one year. The ideal candidate is expected to contribute to the college’s efforts to foster a diverse and inclusive academic community. This is a one year position. The position begins July 1, 2025; however, the new hire should be on campus in late-August, when our New Faculty Orientation is held.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. preferred (by August 2025) in Spanish, or Hispanic Languages and Literatures. Candidates ABD will also be considered.
- Commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student body, and creating an inclusive classroom environment in a liberal arts context.
- Strong teaching portfolio preferred.
- Previous teaching experience is strongly desirable.
