Visiting Assistant Professor in Ethnomusicology
Haverford College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology.
Haverford College seeks a dynamic and supportive colleague to join the music department as a one-year full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in ethnomusicology, beginning fall 2025. Ideal candidates will be able to teach effectively at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum. Preference will be given to Americanists with expertise in Central American studies, subculture studies, queer theory, folklore, ecomusicology, applied ethnomusicology, and gender studies. Responsibilities entail teaching five courses throughout the academic year, focusing mainly on folk musics of the Americas, ecomusicology and environmental justice, music and global subcultures, music as language, and other relevant courses. The new hire must demonstrate a commitment to classroom equity and inclusion, as well as a diversity of topics, perspectives, and theoretical frameworks. Successful candidates are also expected to contribute to the creative and intellectual life of the Haverford College Music Department, including participating in department meetings.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in ethnomusicology or related field required. Applicants who are ABD will also be considered.
