Haverford College Seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of British and Postcolonial Literature.
The Department of English at Haverford College invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor. We seek scholars whose research and pedagogy engages the fields of 19th and 20th century British and Postcolonial literatures. Applicants whose courses might contribute to interdisciplinary programs in Gender and Sexuality Studies, Visual Studies, Environmental Studies, Health Studies, Comparative Literature, and/or Peace, Justice, and Human Rights are especially encouraged to apply.
This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal. The teaching load is equivalent to five courses across the year. Ideal candidates will be able to teach a range of courses from the introductory to the advanced level, including courses such as Introduction to Postcolonial Literature, Modern British Literature, and British Immigrant Writing. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate a commitment to engaging a diverse student body and creating an inclusive classroom environment in a liberal arts context. The position begins on July 1, 2025 for the fall semester 2025; candidates should expect to be on campus by August 25th, 2025. Candidates who are ABD may be considered but must have Ph.D. in hand by the start date.
