Pre-Health Advising

Secondary applications are school-specific applications, sent to an applicant after the primary application has been submitted.

This is a great opportunity for an applicant to share with the admissions committee an intentional interest in each particular school, and why you would be a strong addition to their community. It’s also a good time to consider what AAMC core competencies you have already demonstrated in your primary application, and what competencies you may want to highlight at this stage.

When considering application timing, be prepared to spend a considerable amount of time on secondaries. We recommend a two-week turnaround period between receiving a secondary request and submitting it to the medical school.
