Pre-Major Advising Navigation
Pre-Major Advising
Contact & Staff
The Advising Deans partner with students and colleagues across the campus to effectively support Haverford students as they navigate academic, social, and pre-professional experiences in pursuit of personal and community-focused goals.
Advising Deans seek to:
- Learn about a student’s aspirations and concerns through registers such as one-on-one meetings, informal gatherings, events around (and sometimes beyond) campus, and good old fashioned email
- Connect students with opportunities, resources, and networks of support and enable students to navigate college protocols and practices
- Identify structural barriers to equity and work with colleagues to enable all students to fully animate their gifts and get access to the opportunities and resources of the college
- Encourage students to reflect on the interrelations between their curricular, co-curricular, and community investments
- Provide scaffolding as students rise to meet challenges and identify opportunities and offer support in times of crisis.
We aim to meet students where they are; to listen wholeheartedly to students’ questions, concerns, and visions; to learn from students’ multivalent experiences; and to work closely with our colleagues across the campus community to ensure equity in students’ educational experience.
