Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship

The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) program seeks to diversify the faculty in higher education. It prepares fellows to enter Ph.D. programs by underwriting time for research and writing, connecting students with faculty mentors, and creating opportunities such as annual conferences. Fellows build support networks across schools, gain experience presenting their own research, and learn from the projects and perspectives of others.  

At the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference for the program, fellows and coordinators from local MMUF institutions visited Haverford for two days.

Visual Culture, Arts, and Media

Haverford’s new Visual Culture, Arts, and Media (VCAM) facility houses the College’s Interdisciplinary Minor in Visual Studies, the Haverford Innovations Program, and the John B. Hurford ’60 Center for the Arts and Humanities and its new Philadelphia Area Creative Collaboratives initiative.

Maker Arts Technician and Coordinator Kent Watson ran a workshop, one of several he’s been hosting this semester, to introduce the Maker Space.  “We together all created a fork—I thought was a fun, simple first design, ” said Watson. “But also there was a lot experimentation within that.
