International Student Orientation
A message for the international students in the Haverford Class of 2028!
Congratulations and welcome to Haverford College! The Office of International Student Support (ISSO) looks forward to working with you as you prepare to travel to the United States of America to pursue your undergraduate studies. We are excited to welcome students who come from a multitude of countries and backgrounds to Haverford.
ISSO will be emailing you regularly with policy updates and logistical information, reminders, and instructions over the next few months in preparation for your arrival at Haverford College.
All international students (F-1 visa holders and US citizens and legal permanent residents who primarily reside abroad) should have received an email from our office. If you are an admitted international student and you have not received an email from ISSO, please contact us at hc-isso [at] haverford.edu.
International Student Orientation (ISO)
ISSO hosts International Student Orientation (ISO) over the five days immediately preceding the start of the Customs program for incoming international students, which include F-1 visa holders, and US citizens and legal permanent residents residing abroad. During ISO, students will have the opportunity to meet other incoming international students; engage with upper-class Student Resource People (SRPs); and participate in a series of workshops designed to help students studying in the US context for the first time to navigate new expectations, opportunities, and resources. ISO also addresses the practical necessities of setting up life in a new country such as opening bank-accounts, packing, and familiarizes you with Haverford policies that will be relevant to you when you arrive on campus.
ISO is confirmed for August 23-28, 2024. ISO participants will move-in to campus on Friday, August 23. Participants will be able to move into campus (into their academic year dorm room) between 9am - 5pm on August 23. ISO participants are strongly encouraged to plan to move into campus between 9am - 12pm to maximize their participation in the move-in day programming and access to the services available on that day. Please note that ISO does not conflict with Customs. ISO concludes at noon on August 28, and Customs begins in the afternoon of the same day. Please note that attendance at ISO is optional for US citizens living abroad, and mandatory for F-1 visa holders.
To confirm your attendance at ISO, please complete the ISO Registration Form by July 1, 2024. More details are available in our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Google document.
