Network Storage Replacement - Filestore
Details
IITS is replacing our current on-premise network storage solution, ‘Storage’ (storage.haverford.edu), with a new platform - ‘Filestore’ (filestore.haverford.edu) - access will be available beginning Monday, November 4.
What is Filestore?
Filestore is an on-premise managed network storage solution that should be used to store:
-
Departmental data that includes personally identifiable information (PII)
-
Institutional data that needs to be kept for archival purposes
-
Large data sets that are not optimal in cloud storage
Any user files that need to be shared for collaboration that do not contain PII should be stored in either Google Drive or Box.
What is changing from Storage to Filestore?
User Folders
Community members will not have individual shares within Filestore. If you currently use your personal share (storage.haverford.edu\users\) we are asking you to move your data to either Google Drive or Box. If you have institutional or PII data in your user folder that will need to be retained on-premise, please contact IITS for assistance.
Departmental Shares
IITS is moving all of the data in departmental shares from STORAGE to Filestore, keeping the permissions as close as possible. Starting Monday, November 4 use Filestore to access your departmental data.
*please note that students will not have access to Filestore.
Copier Scan-to-Network Folders
These folders will be removed, instead each copier will be configured to scan directly to a department share (after authentication). If your copier does not include your department starting Monday, November 4, please contact the IITS ProDesk.
How will I access Filestore?
Starting Monday, November 4 Filestore can be accessed via these instructions:
