2-Factor Authentication (Duo)
Details
Over the course of this academic year, we will be implementing the 2-Factor authentication service called Duo.
We wanted to inform you of an upcoming change to provide added security to Haverford's user accounts and resources. Over the course of this academic year, we will be implementing the 2-Factor authentication service called Duo. By utilizing this additional security measure we will be better protected against access from unauthorized sources.
What is 2-Factor Authentication?
You may already be using different versions of 2-Factor authentication to access personal resources such as banking and medical information. After logging into a 2-Factor protected resource you will be prompted to confirm that you are the owner of the account by confirming the request through an application on a smart device, receiving a phone call, or entering a code provided through a variety of methods.
What do you need to know now?
Next week will be starting the first phase of implementation and users will see an extra screen flash by briefly when logging into most Haverford resources such as your email. For now, this screen will not require any input from you and will simply log you in as normal. But please be aware it is a legitimate screen and not third-party interference.
We will communicate next steps as we progress through implementation and please contact the ProDesk [at] haverford.edu (ProDesk) if you have any questions.
