In the Collection: Maxfield Parrish

In the Collection

Artist and illustrator Maxfield Parrish, Class of 1892, already showed great promise while a student here, as evidenced by his fabulously illustrated chemistry notebook. The notebook is part of the Maxfield Parrish Collection, which includes letters, manuscripts, original sketches and drawings, and other items.

"In the Collection" highlights some of the rare and marvelous items that are part of Magill Library's Special Collections.

Then & Now: Concerts Now

Then & Now: Concerts Now

In February, the Baltimore band Chiffon played for students in the basement of Lunt, which is home to a student-run café and a performance space that hosts the Federation United Concert Series.

Missed yesterday’s photo? See back “Then.”

Do you recall a particularly memorable night of music in Lunt, its precursor Jones Café, or in The Crypt during your time at Haverford? hc-editor [at] haverford.edu (Tell us about it!) Photo: Brad Larrison.

Then & Now: Concerts

Then & Now: Concerts

In 1965, students could get coffee and a bite and listen to musical performances in a café called The Crypt in the basement of Union. There was even some snazzy balcony level seating overlooking the action.

Come back tomorrow to see “Now”.

Today, no trace of The Crypt is visible in Union. Instead, practice rooms have taken over the space. Photo: Theodore Hetzel.
