Thank a Donor Day

The average financial aid grant awarded to Haverford students is $43,851 and more than 53% of students receive some form of financial aid from the College. On National Philanthropy Day (Nov. 15), students were invited to write thank you notes to alumni who have participated in Annual Giving this year.

Community Housing

For students looking to forge close connections around shared interests, Haverford offers special interest housing choices, such as La Casa Hispánica (for students actively engaged in organizing programs concerned with the cultures and civilizations of the Spanish-speaking world); Cadbury House (quiet study, and alcohol and drug-free); and Nerd House (gaming, tech, fantasy, anime, and science aficionados).

Physics and Astronomy

Anticipating that this year's Nobel prize in physics would go to scientists studying gravity waves, Professor Andrea Lommen and students in her gravitational waves class organized a presentation about the physics of the waves, the remarkable facilities needed to detect them, and the importance of these observations.

Dorm Olympics

Part of Customs, Dorm Olympics is the beloved annual tradition in which the blue Barclay residents, red South campus dwellers from HCA and Tritton, and green Gummere inhabitants compete against one another in demonstrations of unusual abilities and dorm pride.

Summer Centered: Sophie Frank ’19

For Sophie Frank ’19, a comparative literature major, a French minor, and a concentration in Africana studies means having the tools to tell the stories that don’t always make it into the limelight. This summer, at her internship at ONE National Gay and Lesbian Archives, funded by the John B. Hurford ’60 Center for the Arts and Humanities, the Los Angeles local is hoping to learn and share the stories of the LGBTQ community in her hometown.
