Women in STEM (WIS)

WIS empowers all women interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics at Haverford by creating solidarity among them and providing them with a support network. The club has hosted multiple MacArthur “Genius” Award winners and Churchill Fellows and features its own award winner: Current senior co-president Emily Nalven Krasnow ’17 has received a Fulbright to conduct research in Belgium next year.

Bounce is Haverford’s oldest hip-hop dance group which, after a yearlong hiatus, was revived in the fall of 2014 by Jin Yoon ’16 and Emily Diaz ’16.

The John B. Hurford '60 Center for the Arts and Humanities (HCAH) supports the intellectual and artistic ambitions of faculty, students and staff. They foster collaboration, experimentation, and critical thought through seminars, symposia, research and curricular support, working and reading groups, arts and performance residencies, exhibitions and visual culture programming.

The College’s long-running Mentoring and Student Teaching program, which welcomed its newest class in January, gives Haverford students the opportunity to tutor local secondary school students in science and writing, creating a relaxed environment where learning is a mutual experience.

Students gather for Plenary, a critical mechanism for student self-governance at Haverford, to raise, discuss, and debate campus issues and reach resolution on changes to the Honor Code.

An increasing number of international students are being drawn to Haverford by the promise of intellectual exploration, academic rigor, and close-knit community. Once here, they must also contend with unfamiliar food and strange American social customs, and a climate that may be way outside their comfort zone. A robust support program for students from abroad eases intercultural adjustment.

The CCPA fosters career exploration, professional growth for students and alumni, as well as networking and outreach with employers.

For more than 40 years, the Center for Career and Professional Advising has run an externship program that connects current Haverford students with a wide network of alumni for a firsthand peek at potential career options.
