Abstract:

Terminal alkynes scatter light in specific ways depending on the systems they're a part of. This feature is used in experiments to learn more about the properties of proteins and materials. However, there is not a systematic way to predict which environments will lead to particular types of scattering. In the Daly Lab, we have started to develop these methods and use them to reverse engineer and explain experimental results.
