Search committee members must remain aware of issues that can impede or enhance diversity and inclusion efforts as they relate to recruitment and hiring during the hiring process. In this workshop we will cover topics such as implicit bias, selective attention, cognitive errors, and avoiding passive search practices. This year we are transitioning from encouraging search committee members to attend the workshop to requiring it, and will run several sessions each semester going forward. It would also benefit the search process if members of committees participated in at least one other College-sponsored workshop related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. 

• Session one focuses on identifying and lessening the impact of biases, and promoting appreciative search practices. 
• Session two focuses on the logistics, framing, and processes of running and participating in a search.
