Haverford Website Drupal Migration Project
What is happening?
Drupal, the content management system that powers haverford.edu, is being upgraded. Haverford is partnering with Last Call Media, the same vendor that built our current website in 2015.
Why is this happening?
Haverford currently uses Drupal 7, which has reached end-of-life and must be updated. We are upgrading to Drupal 10.
Will the website look different?
No, not drastically. Everything–including the website theme–will be rebuilt in Drupal 10, yet most site visitors will not notice a difference. This is not a redesign project.
Timeline
The project began in January 2024. Although the timeline may be adjusted as we move through the process, we plan to launch the new Drupal 10 website during the Fall 2024 semester. We will announce a date when we are closer to the final migration.
What happens to my site and content during this project?
Your existing office or department website will be moved to Drupal 10. There is nothing you need to actively do to make this happen, but the web team will reach out if we have questions.
For the duration of the project, the web team will still be able to make basic updates to your site content, such as updating deadlines or links, adding new staff, or making the sort of basic text changes that are occasionally needed.
Beginning February 16, 2024, and through the migration to Drupal 10, we will not be able to:
- build entirely new websites, including “dashboards”, data displays, or new content types
- complete major overhauls of existing websites, including adding or removing an extensive number of pages/sections or reorganizing/renaming navigation menus
You will still be able to:
- post news Updates to your office or department website
- create and update MachForms (forms.haverford.edu)
- send websupport [at] haverford.edu requests or submit items in Basecamp to update existing page content
Have questions?
Please reach out to the web team at websupport [at] haverford.edu.
Note: This page will be updated with information or updates during the migration from Drupal 7 to Drupal 10.
