Victims of Hurricane Sandy need your help!

Here's a list of aid organizations compiled by our Office of Student Activities and Leadership.

Connecticut

· Fairfield County Community Foundation - Connecticut: Offers regional giving options.

· Connecticut Foodbank

New Jersey

· New Jersey Disaster Relief Resources: A resource created by the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers.

· Community Food Bank of New Jersey

New York

· The Brooklyn Recovery Fund: A joint effort between the Brooklyn Community Foundation, the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President, and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to create a pooled fund to provide support to Brooklyn's nonprofit organizations working with the communities and individuals most affected by Hurricane Sandy.

· New York Community Trust Resource Page: Offers giving options by neighborhood, city-wide options and volunteer opportunities.

Others

· United Way Hurricane Sandy Recovery Fund: Established to address the near-term and long-term recovery needs of individuals, families and communities along the Eastern Seaboard that were impacted by Hurricane Sandy's devastation.

· FEMA: The Federal Emergency Management Agency has created a page with instructions on how to donate and volunteer responsibly. It also has a state-by-state list of additional information relating to Sandy.

· The American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy page: The Red Cross has sent almost 9,000 workers from all 50 states to the East Coast with the majority in Greater New York and New Jersey. They have served over six million meals and organized 16 shelters and are still seeking donations.

· Council on Foundations Disaster Response Page: The Council is collecting and sharing information on the philanthropic response to Hurricane Sandy.

· Baltimore Community Foundation: Offers a list of organizations supporting relief efforts, though impact in the region was minimal.

· National VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster): Individuals or groups looking to assist Sandy survivors are encouraged to contact National VOAD. They can help connect volunteers with an organization in need.

· CERF+: Craft Emergency Relief Fund's emergency resources for artists. Contributions  provide the immediate assistance artists need to get back on their feet.

· From Governor Shumlin: Three Key Messages Before Donating: SerVermont and Vermont VOAD ask Vermonters to please consider these three key messages before donating to Hurricane Sandy Survivors.

· VTResponse Blog: A list of Sandy-related social media networks and community response in hard-hit areas, and a way to join the on-the-ground conversations about recovery.
