Young Alumni Giving Month Ends October 31
This October marks Haverford's sixth Young Alumni Giving Month, celebrating the importance of support for the College from graduates of the last decade. Every gift to the Annual Fund made by young alumni will be matched dollar for dollar by Haverford Board member Henry Ritchotte '85, but only until October 31. Join the tradition with a gift to the Annual Fund today.
Let’s Break Another Record
For the year ending June 30, 2015, Haverford raised $31.8 million—a record! Of that amount, $5.4 million was designated for the Annual Fund and Parent Fund. This outpouring of generosity from alumni, parents, and friends counts toward the $225 million goal of Lives That Speak: The Campaign for Haverford, which aims to:
- enhance and enrich the curriculum.
- renovate key academic buildings.
- increase financial aid.
- develop programs that educate the whole student.
- secure Haverford’s financial sustainability through unrestricted endowment, Annual Fund, and Parent Fund gifts.
Unrestricted annual gifts are both a campaign priority and a means of supporting all of the other campaign priorities. With more than $208 million raised to date, we are on a successful track, but we need your help to ensure we reach the finish. This year’s Annual Fund and Parent Fund goal is $5.5 million by June 30, 2016. Please make your gift today.
Nominate Candidates for The Alumni Association Achievement Awards
The Classes of 1946–2011 will celebrate reunions next May. Please consider making a nomination for one or more of the awards. Awards will be presented during Alumni Weekend 2016. Your nominee does not necessarily have to be in a reunion class; however, it is particularly meaningful to receive an award while celebrating a reunion on campus. Please note, the Alumni Awards Committee will only consider nominations that provide detailed and concise background information (which may include personal stories, newspaper articles, concurrence from other alumni, or other pertinent information) in support of the nominee. All nominations must be received by Friday, October 30, 2015. Questions? Please alumni [at] haverford.edu (subject: Alumni%20Awards) (contact Alumni and Parent Relations) (610-896-1004).
Awards Committee: Bennett Berson ’81 (Chair), Peter Anderson ’92, Samantha Phillips Beers ’84, Christina Bradley ’12, Iris Colon ’06, Lisa Sharf Green ’84, Rachel Oliner ’11, Ann Rivera ’96, Celine Tobal ’06
Nominate an Honorary Degree Recipient
The Honorary Degrees Committee invites nominations of individuals to be considered for an honorary degree at Haverford's 2017 Commencement, a tradition that dates back to 1858. The Honorary Degrees Committee considers individuals:
- whose intellectual curiosity, dedication, passion, diligence, work, and singular skills have led to major contributions that have been recognized (nationally or internationally) for their genuine excellence, distinction, and value in the fields of science, letters, arts, law, or humane letters.
- whose work or ideas have directly or indirectly changed the world for the better.
- whose lives speak to the College’s values and to Quaker testimonies.
- who inspire the graduating class.
Nominations received by November 30, 2015 will be considered in this year's pool alongside continuing nominees from prior years. Nominations received after that date will roll into the pool for 2018. jlytle [at] haverford.edu#Honorary%20Degree%20Nomination">Submit your nominations by email to Jesse Lytle or by hard copy to the President's Office, Haverford College, 370 Lancaster Avenue, Haverford, PA 19041.
