A key figure in Haverford's success this season, Brown paced the Fords to a four game winning streak, including three straight Centennial Conference victories, earlier this month.
In the Fords 61-56 home win over Centennial opponent McDaniel on January 6, Brown tied a season-high with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor, and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds for his first career double-double. In Haverford's next game on January 9, Brown scored 15 points to lift the Fords past 19th ranked Johns Hopkins on the road, 64-59. Brown next registered his second double-double over the past three games with a 12 point, 10 rebound performance in the Fords 50-48 win over Centennial opponent Dickinson. In the Dickinson game, Brown made 6-of-11 shots from the field. Brown grabbed an offensive rebound and made the putback layup with 0.9 seconds left in the game to give the Fords the 50-48 win. In Haverford's most recent game against Swarthmore, Brown collected team-highs of 15 points and seven rebounds along with three assists in only 23 minutes of play.
The Cozen Award is named in memory of longtime Drexel coach Sam Cozen, who tormented then-conference rival Haverford with a 213-94 record, 11 MAC Southern Division titles and four NCAA tournament appearances as coach of the Dragons between 1952-68. Cozen's Drexel career overlapped for two years with his 1947-54 run at Overbrook High, where he won five Philadelphia Public League championships with such legendary players as Wilt Chamberlain and Hal Lear.
