Joe Spadaro joins Haverford as new Chief Information Officer
Details
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am delighted to announce the hiring of Joe Spadaro as our new Chief Information Officer. Many of you met Joe during our exhaustive national search, and judging from your feedback via the web forms and post-interview conversations, I'm confident we've found the right person for this vital role.
Joe comes to us from St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, NY, where his impressive accomplishments have included:
- Conversion of all 109 classrooms on both campuses to smart classrooms, with some rooms having high definition videoconferencing capabilities
- Creating a consolidated college-wide IT department encompassing academic, administrative, library technology services and telephony
- Implementing a new ERP system with data warehousing and business intelligence functions to help facilitate data-informed decision making
- Developing short and long term strategic IT plans to guide and inform SJC's use of technology
I have no doubt that this experience will be invaluable as we move the College to the next level of information technology and services.
In selecting Joe, many of you pointed to his collaborative approach to problem solving, a trait that he credits for much of what he was able to do while at St. Joseph's College.“I believe that successful IT leadership includes the ability to foster in the staff a strong service orientation, recognizing the need for collaboration with all constituents and then working to align technology efforts with strategic goals of the College,” says Joe.
He and his wife, Cynthia, have three children. Daughter Alexis is a senior at Fairfield University while younger daughter Emily is in grade school and son Kyle is in preschool. "We have visited the area several times recently," he adds. "We are struck by the beautiful neighborhoods, great place to raise children, excellent educational and cultural opportunities. We can't wait to relocate to the area."
I want to thank everyone in the campus community who contributed to this vital search. We look forward to Joe's arrival on February 1.
All the best, and congratulations to all of us,
Steve
