HAVERFORD WELCOMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE CENTER FOR PEACE AND GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP

Joseph G. Bock has been appointed executive director of Haverford's Center for Peace and Global Citizenship. Bock was most recently executive director of the Secure World Foundation, having previously served as vice president and interim executive director of the American Refugee Committee, as well as country representative and director of development education with Catholic Relief Services. In these roles, Bock has worked extensively with educational, service and development organizations in many places in the world, including Canada, England, China, Africa, the Balkans, Israel, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Prior to these administrative and service roles, Bock served as state representative in the Missouri General Assembly, where he chaired the Energy and Environment Committee and was vice-chair of the Commerce Committee.
Bock's bachelor's and master's degrees in social work are from the University of Missouri, and his Ph.D. in international relations is from the School of International Service at American University in Washington, D.C. He is the author of two books, Sharpening Conflict Management and The National Security Assistant and the White House Staff.
