THE HAVERCARD
Details
A new card access system has been installed on campus to enhance dorm security and convenience for all students. This new system facilitates access control for all outer doors of the dormitories - most of which will have "proximity readers," enabling authorized card holders to wave the card within a few inches of the reader for activation. Doors with "proximity readers" will also have call boxes, allowing visitors to contact residents for access. All of the outer dorm doors which will have propped door alarms.
Students can also use the new card to access their meal plans in the
dining center and to borrow books from the library.
"We're excited about the implementation of the HaverCard project," says Safety and Security Director Tom King, " Very soon we hope to add access to additional student services such as laundry and vending machines. In the future, students and parents will be able to add money to a student's account remotely via secure Internet."
