David Conners Joins Magill Library Staff
Details
The digitization of books is an ever expanding project, and David Conners, a new librarian at Haverford, is taking part. Things that we could once only read by holding it in our hands can now be readily viewed through the computer screen. Conners joins the staff of Haverford's Magill library, working in Special Collections where he digitizes old manuscripts, rare books, and fine art. Additionally, he oversees the library's oral history program.
Conners graduated from Swarthmore College, where he majored in History and minored in Astronomy. He then went onto the Pratt Institute in New York City to earn a master's in Library and Information Science. He has plans to pursue a second master's in Public History. Before coming to Haverford, Conners worked as an environmental organizer and fund raiser.
Conners is excited to do work that complements his interests in history, metadata and technology. Here, he can learn a ton and challenge himself. And of course, he enjoys interacting with the wonderful students of Haverford College.
In his free time, Conners runs, cooks, meditates and enjoys creative writing. He even has a harmonica which, though collecting dust, is beckoning for him to play. He is sure to stay abreast of the latest politics, technology and pop culture. Conners is also excited about his engagement to his partner of three years, Misha.
