The Center for Peace and Global Citizenship is funding the international work of seven seniors over break.
Every year the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship (CPGC) funds student research over the three major school vacations (fall, winter, and spring) for those who need to travel domestically or abroad to conduct research. This year, the CPGC is funding the international research of seven seniors over the upcoming winter break. The descriptions of their projects and their travel destinations are below:
Religion major Violet Baron '14 will study "Young American Jews: Integration, Ethics, and Conflict Engagement in Israel/Palestine" in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Haifa, Israel.
History and Russian double-major Raymond DeLuca '14 will work on his project "Exploring Russian EmigrÄ— Identity in Prague, 1920-1930" in Prague, Czech Republic.
History major Alexander Jacobs '14 will explore "Crisis of Knowledge: Anxiety and Indecision in Suriname's Saramaka Wars, 1749-1762" in Amsterdam and The Hague, The Netherlands.
Political science major Ariel Levin '14 will research the project "Examining Indigenous Women's Organizing in Guatemala" in Guatemala City, Antigua, and Comalapa, Guatemala.
Spanish major Siena Mann '14 will work on "Rhetoric and Representation in the Coalescence of the Sandinista Revolution" in Estelà and Managua, Nicaragua.
History major Kate Monahan '14 will study "Chinos in New Spain: Tracing Racial Identity" in Mexico City and Cuernavaca, Mexico.
Political science and Spanish major Caya Simonsen '14 will research the project "Understanding Contemporary Violence in Guatemala" in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
