ATHLETICS UPDATE
Details
Eighteen Haverfordians made All-Centennial Conference teams for the recently concluded league regular seasons, one more than in 2002. Ten seniors, five juniors, two sophs and one frosh were named to the elite squads, while nine of the 17 eligible upperclass students on the all-athletic teams also made the Centennial All-Academic Honor Roll, an unusually high percentage for any college! All six Haverford fall teams placed at least one athlete on the All-Conference teams.
Leading the way was volleyball's Jen Constantino '04 with her fourth straight first-team all-CC selection, a feat only one other Centennial volleyball athlete has ever achieved. Making her third all-league team was cross-country's Jane Steinmann '04 (first team in 2001 and '03; 2d-team in '02)
For soccer's Matt Rushton '04 and men's cross-country's Bobby Cannon '05, it was two straight years on the first team, while Kirk Mangels '05 (cross-country) and Jelyn Meyer '04 (volleyball) moved up from 2002's second squad to first team this year. Jake Solderitsch '04 (men's soccer) was an Honorable Mention choice last year and a first-teamer this time around.
Pprentiss Clark '05 added a 2d-team berth this year to her first-team spot in 2001. Despite missing some injury time, women's soccer's Kendra Metzger '04 claimed an Honorable Mention in 2003 along with her 2d-team selection in 2002.
Top (and only) rhinie in Haverford's delegation was Zach Vaslow '07, 2d-team men's cross-countryrepresentative.
