Centro Nuevo Creación is a nonprofit whose goal is to engage young people in hands-on interdisciplinary activities through educational engagement, art, and contact with various Latinx cultures. The Centro offers multiple methods of engagement including summer camps, after school programs, and The Goodlands, a flagship program that encourages children to “focus on the positive aspects of their neighborhood through photography” (goodlands.org).

Mexican Culture Center

The Mexican Culture Center (MCC), founded in 1994, is dedicated to promoting and educating others on the artistic and cultural diversity of Mexico. The MCC hosts a number of annual events, including Mexican Week in Philadelphia, the Mexican Independence Day Festival, as well as musical events and dance performances by Aztec and Mexican folkloric groups.

El Concilio

The Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations of Philadelphia, Inc (Concilio) is the oldest Latinx organization in Philadelphia. Founded in 1962, Concilio provides free community-based services such as after-school programs, advocacy for victims of crimes, and finance education programs for young adults. Additionally, Concilio puts on many events throughout the year, such as their annual Hispanic Fiesta and Puerto Rican Day Parade (happening September 25).

Puentes de Salud

Puentes de Salud is a nonprofit organization dedicated to “promot[ing] the health and wellness of the rapidly expanding Latinx immigrant population” (puentesdesalud.org). Their services include programs for food access, art & culture, medical-legal services, and after-school tutoring/mentoring.

Ceiba

Ceiba is a non-profit organization based in Philadelphia that promotes financial inclusion and economic development for the greater Latinx community. Some of Ceiba’s services include free tax preparation services, housing counseling, and financial literacy services.

Juntos

Juntos is a community-led Latinx immigrant organization that “believe[s] that every human being deserves access to quality education and to live with dignity, regardless of immigration status” (vamosjuntos.org). One of Juntos’ programs is the Solidarity Bank, which allows families to pick up food and diapers from Washington Avenue office every Thursday between 12 pm and 2 pm.

Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha

Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM) provides multifaceted services to the greater Latinx community of North Philadelphia. APM serves 40,000 Philadelphians annually and employs 400 multilingual and skilled professionals at 13 sites throughout North Philadelphia and Montgomery County (apmphila.org). Some services they provide include career workshops, early childhood education centers, and resource home services.
