Highlights from the 2023-2024 Fellowship Application Cycle
As the 2023-2024 fellowship application cycle comes to a close, the CCPA would like to share some highlights from this past year.
Haverford was once again named a Fulbright Top Producing Institution for the 8th time in the past nine years. Our 4 Fulbright recipients from the 2022-2023 application cycle are currently on their grants in India, Switzerland, and Spain.
Of the 29 applicants for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program’s 2024-2025 grant year, 13 were selected as semifinalists. Of this group, 5 were ultimately offered a Fulbright grant and 2 were named alternates:
Recipients
Anagha Aneesh ‘24 was awarded a Fulbright grant to Germany, where she will conduct computational chemistry research at the University of Jena.
Maya Antonio ‘24 was awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Taiwan, where she will be teaching English and leading cultural activities with elementary school students.
Woodkensia Charles ‘24 was awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Cameroon, where she will be teaching English and leading cultural activities with secondary school students in the capital city of Yaounde.
August Muller ‘23 was awarded a Fulbright grant to Germany, where she will research gravitational waves at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam.
Mackenzie Tygh ‘23 was awarded a Fulbright grant to pursue a Master’s of Artistic Creation with a concentration in Performing Arts at the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) in France.

Annie Barrett ‘24 and Emma Schwartz ‘24 were selected as Watson Fellows and will spend a year traveling around the world pursuing independent and self-designed projects. Annie will be exploring cultural perspectives on elder care and dementia, while Emma will be learning how abolitionist groups build community through their work.
Aamina Dhar ‘25 and Gabe Jones-Thomson ‘25 were selected as Goldwater Scholars in recognition of their talent and promise as researchers in biomedical engineering and biochemistry, respectively. This is the second year in a row that two Haverford students were selected for the award.
Michael O’Connell ‘24 was awarded a Boren Scholarship to pursue advanced Russian language study through The Language Flagship program at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Bukky Olegbuko ‘25 was named a finalist for the Truman Scholarship, a nationally competitive graduate fellowship for aspiring public service leaders - the third finalist from Haverford in the last four years.
Vivek Veluvali ‘25 was selected as Haverford’s Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) Presidential Fellow and will spend the next academic year learning about the U.S. government through research, leadership, and professional development activities.
Seun Eisape ‘24 was awarded a GEM Fellowship to pursue a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley. As a GEM Fellow, Seun will receive graduate funding, internship opportunities, and professional development in preparation for an academic or professional career in the STEM field.
Atira Glenn-Keogh ‘24 was selected to serve as an Assistant Language Teacher for the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. Atira will spend the next academic year in Japan, where she will be teaching English and supporting extracurricular activities in schools.
Anagha Aneesh ‘24 was selected as a NSF Graduate Research Fellow. In addition, Miranda Baker '17, Hannah Doll '21, Oscar Garrett '23, Isabelle Johnson '22, August Muller '23, Melanie Stark '24, and Elizabeth Szanton '22 were named honorable mentions.
Carolena Muno ‘23 was selected to receive the Clementine Cope Fellowship, awarded to Haverford graduates pursuing advanced degrees in any discipline. Carolena will be pursuing a medical degree at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Jefferson University. In addition, Ahlam Houssein ‘24 received a Cope Prize as an honorable mention.
Charlotte Scott ‘21 was selected to receive the Augustus Taber Murray Fellowship, awarded to Haverford graduates pursuing doctoral degrees in English, Classics, or German. Charlotte will be pursuing a PhD in English and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill this fall.
