Hello, my name is Lauren Anderson, and I am a rising Junior. I am an economics major, and I was excited to have the opportunity to apply for business internships within the Whitehead Internship Program.
This summer I worked as a Marketing Intern for DLL, a Financial Solutions Firm, at the Wayne, PA, office. I was part of the Pay-per-use team, an equipment funding and management solution at the cusp of finance and engineering. DLL’s Pay-per-use offering enables users to pay based on their actual productivity, reducing fixed costs and minimizing administrative burdens. Through my ten-week internship, I gained insights into financing, leasing, and pricing strategies for a pay-per-use model. I learned so much in meetings, conversations, town halls, and by asking questions. I took these insights and developed marketing materials for pay-per-use offerings, including flyers, presentations, website content, and social media. I worked under an amazing manager who trained me, answered my questions, and brought me into meetings.
My main project this summer was developing anonymous case studies about implemented minimum variable products to use as marketing collateral. This process involved interviewing company directors, researching, writing the case study, getting it approved and checked, and then designing the look.
While balancing a lot of different projects and tasks, it was beneficial for me to have a spreadsheet project tracker to ensure I did not miss deadlines. My advice for future interns is to take advantage of all the events for interns, ask questions, be prompt and prepared, and set up meetings with employees who do work you are interested in. I am very grateful for this opportunity provided through the Whitehead internship program and my Pay-per-use team.
