Fords Forum is a recurring, Zoom-based series where President Raymond, fellow senior staff, and/or other alumni share candid insights about the College.
Deepen your knowledge about and connection to Haverford College by joining us for an informal virtual gathering. This forum will enable alumni, families, and friends to hear President Raymond, fellow senior staff, and/or other alumni share candid insights about the College, campus climate, real time challenges, and ongoing strategic work. Each program will be customized and guided by questions from you - our alumni, parents, and friends. We look forward to addressing the matters of most importance to you.
President Wendy Raymond
An accomplished molecular biologist, award-winning teacher, and academic leader, Wendy Raymond became the 16th president of Haverford College in 2019. At Haverford, she has undertaken a new strategic planning process, led the College's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has helped oversee the creation of Haverford's first antiracism action plan. Formerly, she served as vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Davidson College, where she oversaw a significant reinvestment in faculty positions, research support, and curricular development. Prior to Davidson, Wendy was professor of biology at Williams College. She is a graduate of Cornell University. She earned her Ph.D. at Harvard in biochemistry, followed by an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellowship in genetics at the University of Washington. She is married to geologist (and Haverford alumnus) David Backus ’82.
