A total of ten Haverford College men's and women's track & field/cross country members were announced as 2023 Academic All-District selections, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Five Men's Cross Country/Track & Field Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-District

HAVERFORD, Pa. - A total of five Haverford College men's track & field/cross country were announced as 2023 Academic All-District selections, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Academic All-District recognizes student-athletes for their performance both on the field and in the classroom as honorees must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be a key starter/reserve for their respective team.
The award honorees from Haverford included Aaron Bratt, Peter Buckley, Reza Eshghi, Ryan Kredell, and Nico Tripeny. Each will now automatically advance to the Academic All-American ballot, which will be released on June 29.
Bratt, a senior mathematics major from Bethesda, Maryland, was a stalwart through all three running seasons for the Fords. A PhillySIDA Academic All-Area selection in 2022, he was an Ambler Scholar Athlete and was named to the CC Academic Honor Roll in each season of eligibility. A three-time NCAA qualifier for cross country (2019, 2021, 22), and an All-Metro Region pick in 2022, Bratt also earned Second-team All-CC for cross country last season. He has also earned USTFCCCA All-Region for both indoor and outdoor track (5,000 meters and 10,000 meters).
Buckley, a philosophy major from Athens, Ohio, graduated this fall after an illustrious career. Academically, he was a Centennial Conference Honor Roll selection in each season of eligibility and was named CoSIDA Academic All-District following the 2020-21 campaign.
He is one of just a select 13 runners in Haverford program history to qualify for four NCAA Championships in Cross Country championships. He was twiced named second-team All-Centennial Conference in cross country (2021, 22) and was also an honorable mention in the indoor 5,000 meters during the 2022 track season.
Eshghi, a sophomore from Lincoln, Mass. was a member of Haverford's NCAA Metro Regional Champion cross country team last fall. He was named a first-team All-Centennial Conference selection for the distance medley relay this past indoor season, and also was named All-Metro for the distance medley relay, the mile, and the 3,000 meters. He additionally picked up outdoor All-Region honors for the 1,500 meters in addition to Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll in each season of eligibility.
Kredell, a senior economics major from Geneva, Ill. wrapped up a standout career across all three running seasons. A Cross Country All-American a season ago, he was named the USTFCCCA Metro Region Athlete of the Year, the Centennial Conference Runner of the Year, and the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Performer of the Year for cross country. He also picked up Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season.
On the indoor track, he was an All-Metro Region selection in the 3,000 meters and the 5,000 meters in each of the last two seasons while also earning four All-Region certificates on the outdoor track so far during his career. Kredell has been named CC Athlete of the Week three times in the past two seasons.
Both the Centennial and Haverford records fell in the 5,000 meters at the Terrier Classic in Boston as Kredell crossed in 14:02.37, which ranked third in Division III at the time, and was the fifth all-time individual mark within Division III.
Tripeny, a senior mathematics major from Corning, N.Y., was an NCAA qualifier in cross country during the 2021 season, and has been named All-Metro region during each of the last two cross country campaigns. Tripeny picked up All-Centennial Conference honors for the 4x400 relay during the 2019-20 indoor track & field campaign, and earned USTFCCCA All-Region in the outdoor 5,000 meters last month.
Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Places Five On CSC Academic All-District Squad

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Five members of the Haverford College women's cross country/track & field teams have been selected for inclusion on the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Academic All-District team, the organization announced in a release earlier this week.
Academic All-District recognizes student-athletes for their performance both on the field and in the classroom as honorees must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be a key starter/reserve for their respective team.
The award honorees from Haverford included Claire Cywes, Katie Hirsche, Ally Landau, Krysta Nichols, and Isabel Thornberry. Each will now automatically advance to the Academic All-American ballot, which will be released on June 29.
Cywes, a Jacksonville, Fla. native, was a member of the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team for the outdoor track season, and was also a CSC Academic All-District pick for women's soccer following the 2022 campaign. She has been a Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll recipient in each season of eligibility for that award.
Hirsche, a first-team All-CC selection for Cross Country, also added Centennial Conference Honorable Mention in the indoor season 5,000 meters before compiling another strong outdoor campaign in 2023. The Washington, D.C. produced ended up logging the top 10,000-meter time (36:33.24) and third-fastest 5,000-meter time (18:02.17) among Metro region competition this season. Hirsche was the CC champion in the 10k, and earned a second consecutive 10k certificate, and her first outdoor 5,000-meter award.
Landau, of Livingston, N.J. was part of Haverford's school-record 4x100 meter relay squad this spring. She also picked up USTFCCCA All-Metro Region honors for her role in the 4x400 meter relay and a second-team All-CC nod in both the 400 meters and 4x400 meter relay. She was the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's basketball this past season.
Nichols, from Nazareth, Pa., was a NCAA National Championship Qualifier in 2021, reaching the national stage as a first year while also earning Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll in each of the three running seasons this academic year.
Thornberry, of Louisville, Colo. the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was a three-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, Thornberry was recently named second-team All-Centennial Conference for the 4x400 meter relay, as the Haverford squad finished as runner-up at the CC Championships on May 7. The relay squad also finished as USTFCCCA All-Metro region selections for their performances in the relay this season.
In the indoor season, Thornberry is also an USTFCCCA 4x400 meter All-Region pick, and was an honorable mention All-CC selection in the 400 meters after a bronze medal finish in that event at the Centennial Indoor Championships.
