Who are We?
We are a student community professionally organized to support your mastery of the introductory STEM and language courses you may be taking and to help you study more effectively over time. We believe learning happens best in community and partnership.
Study sessions with tutors are free of charge and we offer flexible hours to accommodate your schedule.
How Do I Access Peer Tutoring?
We support students in 17 disciplines (about 40 courses!) and tend to meet with students weekly or as needed. To sign-up for tutoring,
- Go to Penji, our online scheduling system.
- Enter your student information, choose a weekly or 1-time study session, and find a tutor who matches up with your schedule.
These instructions can be found on Penji’s support page for student users as well.
We’re looking forward to working with you! Before your first session, please review the following tips for making the most of your tutoring session. Finally, if you are having trouble accessing tutoring, please reach out to Gabriel Angrand at gangrand [at] haverford.edu.
What Can I Expect from Peer Tutoring?
Peer tutors support your strategic mastery of a course by creating a safe space where you can break down the way a problem or concept is structured and the tools, skills and discipline-specific approaches involved. Because peer tutoring is about developing your knowledge and skills, you can meet with a peer tutor at any stage in the learning process. With that said, we encourage you to sign-in early and make consistent use of tutoring; you’ll find this support structure more useful as a result.
If you have a specific question about your homework, however, consider meeting with your TA or Question Center staff person.
