Bio
Dr. Diamond Howell-Shields appreciates the opportunity to join the Student Diversity Equity and Access team as the Director of the Race and Ethnicity Education Office (REEO). Her research interests and commitments include social justice education, school/institutional climate, educational access for marginalized students, and identity development within educational spaces. In doing so, she is committed to encouraging students to examine educational areas of disenfranchisement, creating opportunities for students' voices to be heard, and liaising with multiple collegiate entities to ensure that students feel supported as they matriculate through their time at Haverford.
Diamond holds a Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration in Multicultural Education. She loves to teach and has experience with people that range from infants to adults. Diamond is committed to working with institutions of higher education to construct climates that are welcoming for all students to learn and grow. In her free time, Diamond loves spending time with family and baking.
