Biography
Katie (kt) Tedesco (she/her) is incredibly excited and grateful to join the Haverford community as the Director of The Center for Gender Resources and Sexuality Equity (GRASE) on campus. Her journey really began in middle school, when she first realized the power of feeling seen in school. As a lost young queer & nonbinary kid struggling with the intersections of her identities, it was difficult for her to navigate systems of privilege and oppression without the knowledge, skills, or confidence to understand her role in it all. It wasn’t until a teacher took her under her wing and created space for her to find her voice and find community that she truly understood how impactful education spaces can be (for better or for worse). This formative experience pushed her into justice & equity work, where she’s been learning, unlearning, and building community for the last 20 years.
kt is an educator at heart who believes deeply in the power of storytelling- centering anti-racism, intersectionality, and a remembering of wholeness in her work and life. She has spent her time over the years as a classroom teacher, adjunct professor, teacher coach, consultant, program designer, and workshop facilitator. She can’t wait to work alongside students and the rest of the Haverford community to honor & build upon the amazing work that’s already been done at the GRASE Center.
When she’s not at work, you can usually find kt tending to plants, listening to old vinyl records, or eating delicious food outside somewhere with her chosen family.
