VCAMbient: Steel and Iron with Tuttle Creative Resident Shannon Alonzo
Wednesday, March 19, 2025
Noon
VCAM Lounge
A playlist paying homage to the rhythms of Trinidad and Tobago, taking you through various decades and genres. Be transported from the pan yard to the calypso tent, from the carnival road to the backyard jam; spend an hour journeying through the 'Land of Oil and Music.’
Part of a Tuttle Creative Residency hosted by The::sense::archive, an emerging creative collective and research network that centers artist-practitioners and their processes. Organized by Ava Shirazi, Assistant Professor of Classics and VCAM Faculty Fellow, Haverford College, and Monica Huerta, Assistant Professor English and American Studies, Princeton University. Supported by the Hurford Center’s Tuttle Creative Residencies Program
Now in its fourth year, VCAMbient is an opportunity for students, staff, faculty, and guests to fill the cavernous space of VCAM with their favorite sounds–at a volume that permits the ongoing business of teaching, learning, and working in the building. Make a Spotify playlist, or better yet, bring an instrument, start playing/streaming, and see what happens. You can have a theme, or the theme can simply be "stuff I like."
