Visiting Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies
Haverford College seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies.
The Department of Religion at Haverford College invites applications for a one year visiting assistant professor in Jewish Studies. Candidates should be broadly trained in Jewish Studies, with an ability to contribute to an interdisciplinary curriculum in the study of religion. The ideal candidate would be able to support our regular offerings in pre-modern Judaism, but could also offer Jewish studies courses complimentary to our broader curriculum in religion. Candidates should be prepared to teach 4 semester-long courses plus undergraduate thesis advising. These four would include courses at all levels of the curriculum, as well as one or more courses that offer a comparative or conceptual approach to a topic in religious studies. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to engaging a diverse student body and creating an inclusive classroom environment in a liberal arts context.
The position begins August 26, 2025, for the fall semester of 2025, and it is expected that the Ph.D. will be completed prior to the start date.
