Multi-hyphenate sound artist Annea Lockwood joins us for an artist talk and immersive listening session exploring the local river ecologies of the Haverford campus. Through her engaged practice of deep listening, Lockwood invites participants to attune themselves to the subtle voices of rivers and their surrounding environments, leaning into the hidden dynamics of ecosystems, and inviting us to forge a deeper connection to the natural world. Through a guided encounter with the auditory landscapes of Haverford's waterways, Lockwood encourages a renewed appreciation of the interconnectedness of all living systems.
This semester, the Bi-Co Environmental Studies Department continues a series of talks, workshops, gatherings, performances, and dinners to explore what it might mean to grow a living culture inside what often feels like a dying one, with visits by artists and thinkers including Amy Franceschini, James Allister Sprang, and Annea Lockwood.
Sponsored by the Bi-Co Environmental Studies Department, the Distinguished Visitors Fund at Haverford College, the Department of Music, VCAM, and the Hurford Center for the Humanities.
